| When I was young, I would look around and saw the darkness everywhere. So I kept asking myself, “What is good about humanity? Is there anything that justifies our existence?” And for a long time I could not find the answer.
Until later, I realized that there is something Magical about us – the Art. (My definition of Art: Any skill that is mastered beyond the level of excellence).
Whether we listen to music, watch a movie, read a book, admire a painting or sculpture, fascinated by a sport, or captivated by something else, we end up in a different world, the world of magic, the world of Art.
For a brief moment we are able to leave our lives behind and enter this magical world of dreams. World that cannot be described, yet every one of us has experienced it.
There are people amongst us branded by the Universe with a breath of magic. These people are destined for greatness and they share the magic with us. Without them we cannot enter that world, and without magic this world is a dark place. Most of us can't even inspire our own children, while the Artists inspire millions.
We adore the Artists who inspire us, worship them and spend outrages sums of money on their products. We can become quite passionate when criticism is directed at our deeply-revered Artists. But sadly, the moment we notice some filthy article in a magazine about our idols’ personal lives, we immediately buy it. Without a slightest sense of emotional conflict, we absorb the lines filled with gossip. We don’t care that in most cases it’s something extremely personal. We don’t even care that gossip destroys the very magic and the Artists we came to love, we just need to know. If anything of a sort were written about us, it most probably would cause a serious damage to our family and us. There would be screaming about ‘my personal rights’ and privacy laws.
Whenever I see one of those magazines on the shelves at a supermarket and the dark voice whispers to me: “get it”, I know better. Instead, I would like to thank all of the Artists for the inspiration and the light that you bring. May you be accorded with the same joy and happiness that you bring into our lives.
